This year has been and continues to be a very special year for the Arapahoe Color Guard of Centennial Colorado. Under new direction of a band director and winning State Winter Guard, we have overcome many obstacles as well as enjoyed a most fantastic journey.
We pride ourself on our sense of team and training has always and continues to be a strong point for us. We usually have around 12 vets every new year with 10 newbies. Our buddy program really helps the new members understand the ropes as well as help ease them into new things through dance, equipment and performance! Our newbies end up being very respectable performers after their first season in the fall.
To build our team's character we have a team outing once a month. By going to a water park, a movie or having a holiday party, we are able to get to know each other and break barriers. Its nice to communicate well so that we can rehearse better as a team. Our coaches really appreciate this!
Like most color guards, we have some drama and we are always challenged by everyone counting in time, but through it all we always seem to triumph as a team! Locally since 2005 we have won State twice and have jumped 3 classes. This April, 2011 we will be traveling to WGI for the first time! Everyone on our team and in the community is so excited. The experience will be a trip of a lifetime and we hope to return after this year. No matter how we do, the experience and performance will be AH-MAZING!
We hope that all of our sense of team and our hours of training will pay off in the end. So MBS, we would be very honored to be considered for this wonderful scholarship as it would help to propel us into our once of a lifetime opportunity!
Thank you,
Arapahoe HS Color Guard
